A lively and captivating concert presentation of contemporary theatrical works for 3 singers and orchestra, Broadway Today was conceived, developed and arranged/orchestrated by Maestro Charles Cozens. Fully scripted with orchestral underscore, this show has brought audiences to their feet since 1994.

Mezzo-soprano Gisèle Fredette performs in concerts, musicals, operas, and operettas across Canada, the United States and Europe. The multilingual Manitoba native has appeared at Roy Thompson Hall, the Hummingbird Centre and with the Toronto Symphony, and with most American and Canadian orchestras and opera companies. Ms. Fredette sings in eight languages, and has played Eliza Dolittle in MY FAIR LADY, Dolores in Canadian premiere of CECILIA VALDES and Paloma in EL BARBERILLO DE LAVAPIES.

She sang the title role of Carmen with the Thunder Bay Symphony, and Mrs. Segstrom in the Dora Award winning production of A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC. Film credits include Euridice in ORPHÉE ET EURIDICE, Prima Donna in the Emmy Award winner BEETHOVEN LIVES UPSTAIRS; she has released an album of her own compositions entitled ONE VOICE, UNE VOIX, UNA VOZ, and has performed her original compositions with major symphonies.

 

Helena holds a Degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Toronto and studied acting in both Toronto and New York City.  She founded and administered what became the hugely popular and successful Hsin Chu Canadian Arts Academy, in Taiwan.  Helena’s interest and life-long love of music has led to her vast repertoire of musical styles ranging from Pop, Traditional, Classical and, of course, to Musical Theatre.  She has appeared at many theatres across Canada including the Huron Country Playhouse, Drayton Festival, London Musical Theatre and the Lighthouse Festival.

Jeff Madden, is best known for his Award-winning two-year run starring as ‘Frankie Valli’ in the hit musical JERSEY BOYS. In 2009, Jeff received the coveted Dora Award (Toronto’s version of Broadway's TONY award) for ‘Outstanding Performance in a Musical’ for his work in JERSEY BOYS.

A veteran of the Canadian Theatre scene, prior to joining the Toronto production of Jersey Boys, Jeff was a member of the prestigious acting company at The Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario for eight consecutive seasons.

In 2007 Jeff produced his debut CD recording of musical theatre and pop songs entitled “TAKING THE WHEEL”, which he produced and recorded independently in Toronto and Niagara-on-the-Lake. The CD features 14 new arrangements of songs by musical theatre composers Stephen Sondheim, Jason Robert Brown and Adam Guettel, as well as pop songs by Eric Clapton, Marc Anthony and David Foster.
