featuring: The Nylons, a cappella vocal quartet with Charles Cozens (conductor/arranger)
The enduringly popular Nylons unite their infectious a cappella vocal style with the lushness of symphony orchestra in a plethora of well-known hits from their many recordings, including rock and roll and Canadian classics medleys. This fully scripted, delightfully entertaining show has been a hit, with audiences since 2010.
"THE ORCHESTRA WAS BRIGHTLY LED THROUGHOUT THE TWO-HOUR-PLUS PROGRAM BY CHARLES COZENS, WHO ALSO ARRANGED ALL OF THE SHOW'S ORCHESTRAL NUMBERS. HE QUIETLY WENT ABOUT HIS BUSINESS OF DIRECTING THE SHOW'S TWO EXTENSIVE – IF NOT EXHAUSTING – SETS WHILE GIVING THE FULL LIMELIGHT TO THE FOUR SHOWMEN." – WINNIPEG FREE PRESS
With seven gold and platinum recordings, this four-member vocal group is one of Canadaʼs top international success stories. The group has performed over 1000 concerts in dozens of tours worldwide including Japan, Korea, China, Australia, Europe, Brazil, the US, and Canada.
From their formation in the back of a delicatessen in Toronto in the late 1970s to headlining at Carnegie Hall, The Nylons have a storied history. Their first album went gold in only two months and eventually went on to become a Canadian platinum seller with big hits Up The Ladder To The Roof and The Lion Sleeps Tonight.
Disney used their song That Kind Of Man in their feature film The Tin Man, and their version of Up The Ladder To The Roof was used in the movie Made In Heaven. Their recordings have been played to the astronauts on the NASA Space Shuttle, they have performed on The Tonight Show and made numerous major media appearances including Good Morning America.
The Nylons are renowned for their vibrant live shows, featuring dazzling harmonies, smooth arrangements, tight choreography, and fabulous showmanship. Their rapport with their audiences makes them perennial favorites for all age groups. The Nylons continue to perform worldwide to passionate audiences and critical acclaim.
